Anabel Leigh
“The true beauty of a woman is reflected in her soul.” – Audrey Hepburn
Anabel Leigh developed a love for art and painting at a young age when her health kept her in bed for long periods of time. This freedom of time allowed her creativity to flourish and her interest in people’s faces led her to discover a link between their features and their inner selves—their souls. While majoring in fine arts at Cornell, she was drawn to the theatre department where she applied makeup to actor’s faces and marveled at how the process affected their personalities. This series was inspired by her love of the great Impressionists combined with her fascination with women’s faces and her empathy for the many injustices that women face in all parts of the world.
