Jenny Hong DeLaughter

Jenny Hong DeLaughter grew up in Seoul, Korea, where her most memorable activities in childhood were running around to catch dragonflies and small fish that were hidden under pebbles in the creek.  Performing these quick and stealthy movements was fun and an important element later in her artistic efforts.

The elements of color, shape, texture, and movement are blended to establish an expression.  As the painting process unfolds, intuitive and gestural strokes emerge into perceivable relationship.  Emanation of light in Jenny’s work is metaphorically associated with truth, the power of Nature, and depth.

After working in multimedia technology, computer programming, and international trade for years, Jenny wanted to focus on making art.  Her early academic studies started in 1980, and she received a Master of Fine Arts degree from Texas Woman’s University in 2013.  She lives and paints in Dallas, Texas, and has participated in numerous group and solo shows, including two National MFA Competition exhibits in New York City, Biennial-600 at Amarillo Museum of Fine Art, and solo exhibits at Southeastern Oklahoma University and at Dallas College.

Visual Arts Committee

We are always looking for artists or individuals with an interest in art to serve on our Visual Arts Committee.   Let us know if you would be interested  —  we would love to talk to you about it!  Serving on this committee is a great way to serve the art community and Lovers Lane United Methodist Church and its Foundation.  You do not need to be an artist and you do not need to be a member of LLUMC to serve on the Visual Arts Committee.
